Southampton playmaker, Joe Aribo has reportedly told the club he can leave the club in January.
It comes as a return to Rangers has been floated for the Nigerian international.
Aribo has struggled for regular game time in the Championship this term after the Saints finished rock bottom of the Premier League - leading to his second relegation since leaving Ibrox behind in 2022.
Former boss, Will Still dropped the 29-year-old from the squad - having to wait until November for his first appearance under interim gaffer Tonda Eckert.
The 28-year-old has remained a fan favourite with the Light Blues' faithful having wrote his name in Rangers history by netting in the Europa League Final defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt.
And it appears that a move away from St Mary's is on the cards.Reports suggest a £1.5million fee would be accepted for a player who is approaching the final six months of his contract.
It is claimed that Aribo has interest in Turkey but pundit Marvin Bartley could see a move back to Glasgow emerging for the midfielder.
The Livingston assistant told Clyde 1 Superscoreboard: “I think that is one that could happen. When a player enjoys somewhere, and obviously he had to leave because it was a really good offer that he got down the road, and he has not played as much football as he wanted to play.
"He is still a really, really good footballer and did well for Rangers. I wouldn’t be massively shocked if he came back in January.”
It remains to be seen if the player would green light a move back to Glasgow. Following his departure, he noted he was keen to escape his "comfort zone." He said: "I think for me, what’s so important is the timing of everything.
"I had some offers down south but I chose to go away from home, come out of my comfort zone - which is so important for your own growth personally.
"So for me, life is about little steps to get to your goal and that’s why I made the choice to go up there. And then why I came back to Southampton."
Aribo has managed just 114 minutes of football, but following his appointment as permanent boss Eckert surprisingly insisted he has been delighted with the player.
He said last week: "I am very happy with Joe. He has been excellent every time he has come on, and he is in very good shape."
