Injury has finally claimed a player in the Super Eagles camp as Cyril Dessers has been allowed to return to his club, Panathinaikos of Greece.

The development officially ruled him out of further participation from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

A thigh injury ruled Dessers out of the team. He has returned to his club. He joined them the Greek club on a three-year deal from Rangers FC in September 2025.

At yesterday's evening training, only 25 players including Victor Osimhen took part with the duo of Ryan Alebiosu and Tochukwu Nnadi watching from the sidelines.

Alebiosu, who was initially thought to have played his finally game in the match against Uganda, was at the team’s session but did not participate. He is recovering from a leg injury in progress.

Meanwhile, coach Eric Chelle has told the players to put the group stage successes behind and refocus for the knockout phase.

The Super Eagles will on Monday square up against Mozambique in the knock out stage of the AFCON.
