Lyon center-forward, Gift Orban (22) has officially signed for Bundesliga side TSG Hoffenheim in a €12m deal, both clubs have announced.
The Nigeria international has spent less than a year in Ligue 1 after signing for Les Gones from Gant in January 2024.
Orban eventually featured 21 times with Lyon, scoring five times. Lyon’s No. 9 was deemed surplus to requirements at Pierre Sage’s Lyon with the transfer of George Mikautadze in the summer. According to OL, Orban’s transfer fee rises to €9m with a further €3m in performance-related add-ons.
It is no secret that Lyon has to sell players this January. Les Gones were handed a provisional Ligue 2 relegation by the DNCG in November and in order to avoid that fate, they must sell players before the end of the Ligue 1 campaign.
Orban is already the third OL player to leave this week after Anthony Lopes joined Nantes and Jeffinho’s departure to Botafogo.
The 22-year-old has signed a long-term contract with TSG Hoffenheim and will wear the No. 14 jersey for the Bundesliga side.
