FG to splash N351.9m on Team Nigeria for Ghana feat

The Federal Government of Nigeria is set to splash the sum of $247,000 (about N351.9 million on winning athletes at the just concluded All African Games in Ghana.

According to information, the FG is holding on to the approved reward scheme for athletes in games of such nature.

Sporting Sun gathered that each of the athletes that won gold medal would receive the sum of $3,000; the silver medalist will get $2,000 each while the bronze medalists will each get $1,000 winning bonuses.

Team Nigeria finished second on the medals table behind Egypt with 47 gold, 33 silver and 40 bronze medals. 52 countries competed for honours in 29 sports, with Nigeria involved in 25 sports.

The breakdown shows that the gold medals will fetch the athletes $141,000, silver medalists will receive $66,000 while the bronze medalists will get $40,000.
