FCAAN certifies 72 coaches in Lagos, hails record turnout of female coaches

The Football Coaches Association of African Nations, FCAAN, has certified 72 coaches in its D-License course held in Lagos, with a historic turnout of female participants setting the tone for the programme.

The Level III course, which was conducted under FCAAN’s new curriculum, attracted 7 female coaches — the highest number recorded for any FCAAN certification in Nigeria to date.

Speaking to FCAAN Media after the training, some of the coaches said the growing impact of FCAAN-trained coaches in Nigerian football motivated them to attend.

“We came and saw things for ourselves and we can confirm the stake is very high,” one of the coaches said. “We are loaded now and we have promised our various teams that we will build better players.

You can’t come to a course like this and not know what you are doing or what to do with your team.”

Nigeria U17 Women’s National Team Head Coach and FCAAN Lead Instructor, Hakeem Busari, said Nigerian football is poised for a new era as more coaches embrace knowledge and continuous learning.

“Nigerian football will soon embrace a new height as more Nigerian coaches are beginning to appreciate and make themselves available for meaningful and impactful knowledge,” Busari said.

Corroborating him, FCAAN National Coordinator, Fatai Akande, said the dynamism of modern football demands that coaches evolve daily.

“Football is evolving on a daily basis and coaches must keep up with these trends and dynamism,” Akande stated.

FCAAN President and Founder, Dr. Terry Eguaoje, congratulated the newly certified coaches and urged them not to relent in seeking knowledge.

In his remarks, FCAAN CEO Danny Nazzal reaffirmed the association’s commitment to coaches education.

“FCAAN will stop at nothing to ensure that FCAAN coaches are adequately equipped with modern knowledge that will give them a competitive edge over their peers,” Nazzal said.

The certification adds to FCAAN’s growing footprint in coach development across Africa, with emphasis now shifting toward inclusivity, professionalism, and modern tactical training.
