Awoniyi not available for Fulham tie
Super Eagles ace, Taiwo Awoniyi is still not available for selection for Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espírito Santo as they look to give their relegation battle a boost with tonight’s tie with Fulham at the City Ground.
Awoniyi has already missed a chunk of the season due to undergoing groin surgery in a bid to solve the longstanding problem. He made his comeback in January but Nuno had talked about managing him carefully as he struggled to return to full sharpness.
He suffered a problem in the build-up to the draw with Luton Town and is now facing a few weeks out of action.
The initial diagnosis suggested it was difficult to put an exact timeframe on how long he could be out for, but the belief is he could be absent from anywhere between two to five weeks.
It’s almost five weeks, and the Nigerian is not certain to be ready for tomorrow’s game.
But Nuno is of the view that Awoniyi could be ready for Forest next games starting with the away game to Tottenham or home game with Wolves.
“I don’t know exactly how long he will be out for but I am positive we are going to see him again this season. He will definitely miss these two games (against Palace and Fulham)."
