Aribo targets improved PL campaign

Southampton midfielder, Joe Aribo has sent a clear message ahead of the 2024-2025 Premier League season, saying he's ready to take on the best and prove his worth.

Aribo had a decent season in the Championship with Southampton, scoring four goals while providing an assist to help the Saints secure an immediate return to the Premier League.

The 27-year-old reflected on his debut season in the English top-flight, expressing his determination to make a significant impact for Southampton in the Premier League in 2024-2025.

In 21 outings in the Premier League, thirteen of which he started, during the 2022-2023 campaign, Aribo managed two goals.

A product of the Charlton Athletic academy, he has set unequivocal goals for the upcoming season.

"Of course, it was difficult for me... I knew I had to get my head down, work hard, focus, and believe in myself," Aribo told the Daily Echo.

"I believe in myself and feel like I've just been getting from chance to chance, and there's only more to come."

Aribo added: "I always want to score goals every game I play in. Next season, hopefully, I can score more goals than I did these last two seasons.

"It's my second time up there. Two for two at Wembley now, so very happy, very happy."

As the Premier League season approaches, Aribo is ready to put his words into action. With his talent, work ethic, and unwavering belief in himself, he's poised to make a significant impact at Southampton.

The 2021-2022 season's Europa League finalist who has racked up 34 caps for Nigeria was recently overlooked by newly appointed Super Eagles coach, Finidi George, in his squad selection for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying games against South Africa's Bafana Bafana and Benin Republic's Cheetahs.
