Alalade concludes plans to reward all football teams in Oyun Local Government

Erstwhile ABS and Kwara United hitman Wasiu Alalade has concluded plans to reward all football teams in Oyun Local Government with balls and other materials in his own way of giving back to sports men in seven communities picked under the Kwara South Senatorial district.

Born in Ilemona, the capital of Oyun Local Government, Wasiu Alalade rose from playing on the streets of his hometown then as a relatively unknown lad to become a household name in the Nigerian football most especially in the NPFL.

Alalade's donation of balls aims to support grassroots football and provide teams in Oyun Local Government with much-needed equipment.

The event is expected to come up in Ilemona on Friday, May 29, 2026 as representatives of Football clubs in Ira, Ojoku, Erin-Ile, Igosun, Ijagbo and Ipee will gather to receive their souvenirs from Wasiu Alalade.

Speaking about the imminent event, Alalade explained that his target is to help local teams in his Local Government - an LG that produced legendary late Nigerian striker Rashidi Yekini.

"I am from Ilemona, and in my Local Government, there are many talents that need development and nurturing, and with them getting needed equipment to train, it will help them.

"This is why I made up my mind to make sure that I touch all the teams in Oyun Local Government in my own little way of giving to the society that produced me," Alalade disclosed.

Alalade who is expected to land in Nigeria in the coming hours currently plays for Al Kadhimiya in Iraq, and since joining them in January, he has netted 5 goals, creating 4 assists in 11 games.
