African Tug of War Championship: Police Pullers Delay Camping
Top officials of the Tug of War Nigeria Federation are apparently under pressure from the continental body as the highly rated Nigeria Police Pullers are yet to be officially cleared for camping for the African Tug of War Championship starting soon in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
Indeed the continental Tug of War organisers expressed worries about delayed camping and registration by Team Nigeria dominated by talented and fit pullers from the Nigeria Police Force.
A top official of the continental body, Frank Basiturayi said in Victoria Falls Tuesday that there has not been official response over Team Nigeria's late camping and registration.
"Nigeria Police pullers impressed everyone at the last championship in
Windhoek, Namibia in 2022 and it would be wonderful to have them in
Zimbabwe," he said.
Meanwhile, President of Tug of war Nigeria Federation, Isaac Osaikhiwu Isaac is praying that the pullers are cleared for camping soon.
Isaac stated that the federation is praying that the sports loving Nigerian Police Force top officials will officially approve the release of Police Pullers on time ahead of the continental fiesta holding between June 19-23, 2024.
"The Nigeria Police are front liners in programs of Tug of War Federation of Nigeria. Once they give their usual support, we will be on ground in Zimbabwe for another memorable outing in the Africa Tug of War Championship, " declared Isaac, who pledged to facilitate registration of the Nigerian team once the much awaited camping officially start.
Isaac concluded that they are banking on full support of Nigeria Police to guarantee participation of Nigeria at the Zimbabwe 2024 Africa Tug of War Championship.
