Zenith Bank Tennis Grand Slam ends today

The 2024 Zenith Bank Ikoyi Club Tennis Grand Slam which started on May 16 at the elite club comes to a close today.

Over 90 smashers are taking part in the annual tennis fiesta, which is in its 9th edition.

The men singles was divided into two groups -A and B while the Ladies had only one chart for the singles just as the veterans also featured with ace tennis ‘guru’ Godwin Kienka, dictating among the finalists at the time of filing this report.

The chairman, Tennis section, Diran Famakinwa, said this year’s edition had been exciting from the first day of the tournament.

“There has been no dull moment here. It is like witnessing final games every day. The competition is getting better every year and we are so glad about that.

“Our sponsors, Zenith Bank has been wonderful over the years and we are very positive that the next edition would be another big spectacle,” Famakinwa said.

Lady Captain of the club, Wemimo Ogunsanya, expressed delight about the standard exhibited by the participants of the tournament.

“We have seen very explosive matches in this edition across all the categories. Players and even our members are having so much fun in this edition,” Ogunsanya said.

The final games take place today with executives of the sponsors, Zenith Bank and also top officials of Ikoyi Club expected in attendance.
