Watford sends Nigerian striker on loan for rest of the season

Nigeria eligible striker, Tobi Adeyemo will spend the rest of the season on loan at National League side Wealdstone.

The 19-year-old has only recently returned to action having been dogged by injury since the summer.

He scored for Charlie Daniels’ Under-21 side in their 2-1 away win at Barnsley earlier in the week.

Given the number 39 shirt by the Stones, Adeyemo goes straight into their squad for the game away at Oxford City on Friday.

Due to various postponements and a lengthy run in the FA Trophy, Wealdstone still have eight league games to play between now and April 20, meaning Adeyemo should have plenty of opportunity to get competitive minutes under his belt.

Last season Adeyemo spent a period out on loan at Hitchin Town, where he made three appearances.

When he returned to Watford, the club wad in the midst of an injury crisis, and he made his debut in the FA Cup tie at Reading in January.

Then, famously, head coach Slaven Bilic brought him on as a substitute in the 68th minute of the Championship game with Blackpool at Vicarage Road.

Just four minutes later Adeyemo scored to give the Hornets the lead and they went on to win 2-0.

The striker ended last season with five first-team appearances, but injury has meant he has not featured for the first team at all this term.
