As preparations for the WAFU-B CAF Women's Champions League play-off gets hotter, Nigeria's representative, Edo Queens Football Club of Benin City, are currently under going intensive training program to ensure success at the event.

Chairman of Edo State Sports Commission Yussuf Alli, has expressed optimism that Edo Queens will do the nation proud in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire.

"By the grace of Allah, as chairman of the State Sports Commission, the state government is doing everything needed to be done to ensure huge success of Edo Queens to the continental event. Preparations are on top flight, our girls are good to go, I am very optimistic that Edo Queens will do very well at the play-off in Cote d'Ivoire."

"As Champions of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), we are aware of the uphill task ahead, going into the continental scene needs a different preparations, different mindset, different mentality and different strategy. We have had three editions of the CAF Women's Champions League, three Nigerian club sides have participated in the championship, but have not done so well. For us in Edo Queens, we are confident that Edo Queens will do well at the qualifiers, in Cote d'Ivoire, and then proceed to the final stage.
This is an African show, teams that qualified from their various countries are not coming to Cote d'Ivoire for jamboree, they are coming for battle. Edo Queens are going for serious business, they are battle ready, they are not scared of their opponents, they will definitely do their best as Nigeria's representatives to ensure a ticket to the finals. I'm confident that they would make Nigeria proud this time round."

Meanwhile, Senior Special Adviser to Edo State governor on Sports, who also doubles as coordinator of Edo Queens, Sixtus Omokhagbon, has also expressed confident in the ability of the coach Moses Aduku- led squad to excel in the championship.

"Edo Queens are preparing very well for the continental showpiece in Cote D'Ivoire. The coach have invited a large number of quality and results oriented players across the country to beef up the team. If you watch Edo Queens training now, we will understand what am talking about. The state government and the Sports Commission boss, Yussuf Alli, are putting all logistics in place to ensure that Edo Queens fly high at the competition. Our target is to be the first Nigeria women club side to win the CAF prestigious Women's Champions League trophy. So we are go to go and ready to make the different," he said.
