Osimhen missing in Serie A Top Scorers list

The goals gladiators in the Serie A are widening the gap but last season's Golden Boot winner, Victor Osimhen is way behind the Top 10, reports www.sportsunlimited.ng.

In the 125-year history of the Italian Serie A, no African player has won the Golden Boot until Osimhen broke the record last season. 

The Nigerian forward became the first African to win the Capocannoniere after netting 26 goals for Napoli on their way to winning the Serie A title in the 2022/23 season.However, the Napoli talisman will need a lot of catch-up to retain his crown as Inter Milan's Lautaro Martinez, who finished second last season, is having an unassailable lead with 22 goals.Following Martinez, by wide margin, is Juventus' Dusan Vlahovic with 15 goals while Olivier Giroud is third on 12 goals.Frosinone's Matias Soule and Marcus Thuram of Inter are tied on 10 goals. Seven players; Sassuolo's Domenico Berardi, Hakan Calhanoglu of Inter, Roma's Romelu Lukaku, Genoa's Albert Gudmundsson, Andrea Pinamonti as well as Bologna's duo of Joshua Zirkzee and Riccardo Orsolini are all tied on nine goals.Osimhen is tied on four goals with three others, making it almost impossible to break the top holders' hold.
