Coach Aliyu Zubairu of El-Kanemi of Borno has attributed the team's drop from Top 4 on the NPFL table to the lower level of the table to the stress of the away matches from week in to week out.
He further said that the closest journey to for his team these season was Kano Pillars and Plateau United.
"We disadvantaged in terms of location. The stress is much traveling to far places every weekend; the closest to us is Kano Pillars and Plateau United. This in someways have caused fatigue for our boys," he said.
On the team's 0-2 loss to Niger Tornadoes at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna he said his boys had the chance to equalise with penalty given to them but threw it way.
"We had chances but threw them away. How can you be looking for an equalizer and have a penalty at 90 minutes dot and threw it away? We have nobody to blame but ourselves, the penalty miss distabilize us," he lamented.
Reacting to a question that his absence might have affected the team's performance, coach Zubairu said his assistants are capable hands."My absence did not affect the team. People might want to look at it that way, but I know I have capable assistants."
The coach said he's now pre- occupied to sustain the team's current position, effectively rulling out any chance of playing in the continent next season.
