NNL blazes the trail, submits Annual report, financial statement at AGM ...The first time it's happening in congress

The Annual report and financial statement of the Nigeria National League Limited which was prepared as at June 30, 2024, touched on the strategic report, Directors report, Accounting policies, statement of financial position, statement of comprehensive income, statement of change in equity and note to the account, which enumerated the fixed asset,payables, recievables, share capital retained earnings, revenue, other income and expenses.

The Annual report and financial statement of the Nigeria National League Limited which was prepared as at June 30, 2024, touched on the strategic report, Directors report, Accounting policies, statement of financial position, statement of comprehensive income, statement of change in equity and note to the account, which enumerated the fixed asset,payables, recievables, share capital retained earnings, revenue, other income and expenses.

According to the chairman of the NNL, Mr George Aluo, the NNL wants to set the pace for the clubs and for the first time had to bring in chartered accountant, an external auditor to look into the companies books and express it opinion on the Nigeria National League Limited financial statement

The External Auditor, Mr Vincent Akinbami, said they had to prepare an 18 month financial statement from January 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024 so as to meet up with the new accounting year end of June and make the accounting year July of of a particular year to the month of June of the following year.

The Auditor praised the league board for taking such step which shows a board with a sense of direction, he also called on the other leagues to keep their book open for scrutiny by an external auditor/ firm of repute and urge clubs to also follow suite.
