Itsekiri guns for gold in 100m
National champion, Usheoritse Itsekiri will contend with two fellow Nigerians for the gold medal in the 100 metre race tomorrow at the All Africa Games in Accra, Ghana.
Itshekiri coasted to victory with a time of 10.29 sec in the third semi final race.
Two other Nigerians, Consider Ekanem and Sunday Israel Okon are also in the final.
Ekanem left nothing to chance in the first semi-final, coasting home in a time of 10.37s, defeating Ghana’s Aggerh Barnabas, who ran 10.42s to place second.
Okon also made the final on his senior international debut, having finished 3rd in semi-final 2, clocking 10.47s.
The final comes up tomorrow, and
Itshekiri is projected to win gold for Nigeria if all goes well.
