Gateway 2024:Gymnastics joins weightlifting, kungfu to push Team Edo up medals table
Friday's scintillating performances by Gymnasts from Team Edo have seen the state move from it's hitherto 8th position to among the top 5.
The Gymnasts ended the day with three gold and three silver medals to propel Team Edo to a more respectful position on the medals log.
Chairman of the Edo State Gymnastics Association, Honourable Sam Emovon is optimistic that more gold medals would be harvested today, stressing that Edo is number in Gymnastics in the country as well as producing some of the best in the continent.
With weightlifting and kungfu as well as trickle of other medals from other sports, Team Edo boasts of a total 104 medals comprising 17 gold, 47 silver and 40 bronze. With gymnastics continuing today and the state's strong presence in athletics, Team Edo, according to the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Desmond Enabulele, would take its rightful place in the history of the National Sports Festival.
