Botched AFCON Qualifier: CAF awards maximum points to Nigeria

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has decided the botched African Cup of Nations qualifier in Libya in favour of Nigeria.

CAF, in its ruling and forwarded to the respective federations of Libya and Nigeria yesterday found the Libya federation guilty as charged and apart from awarded the three points and three goals yo the Super Eagles of Nigeria, the CAF Disciplinary Committee also awarded a fine of USD 50,000 against the Libya federation.According to the Disciplinary Board "Re: Protest Over Match No. 87 Libya vs Nigeria scheduled to be held on 15 October in Benghazi, the Libya Football Federation is found to have breached Article 31 of the African Cup of Nations Regulations as well as Articles 82 and 151 of the CAF. The three points and three goals hereby awarded against Libya. Disciplinary Code."The Libya Football Federation is ordered to pay a fine of USD 50,000. The fine is to be paid within 60 days of notification of the present decision. All other and further motions or prayers for relief are dismissed."The five member CAF Disciplinary board headed by Ousmane Kane was unanimous in condemning the hostile attitude displayed towards the players of the Super Eagles on October 14.
