Nothingham Forest manager, Nuno Espirito Santo, though admits that Nigeria international, Taiwo Awoniyi is fit but clarified that the striker is yet to hit his sharpness.

As the Reds prepare to face Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday, Santo said of the forward who returned from bench last time out after returning from groin surgery.

Awoniyi is not quite up to full match sharpness yet. An injury to Chris Wood meant the Nigeria international has had to play more minutes in a shorter space of time than Forest might have liked.

But he is getting there. And Nuno could also have Wood available on Sunday, with the New Zealander having returned to training.

“He is closer,” Nuno said of Awoniyi. “Everybody knows what happened with Taiwo, he was out for a long time with injury and then started playing more than he should have due to the circumstances of the squad.

“He is improving. The decision of not starting him was with the previous game, in the FA Cup, in mind as he played 90 minutes and had a short period of recovery. But he ended the game well on Saturday and is OK.”
