Anthony Joshua says McGregor inspires him

Anthony Joshua is preparing for his next fight on March 8.

Last year was a successful one for former world champion Anthony Joshua.
Following back-to-back losses to the current unified world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, Joshua rebuilt with three successive wins in 2023.

One of those victories was a seventh round knockout over Robert Helenius at London's O2 Arena in August and one memorable moment post fight was when Joshua climbed out of the ring to meet Conor McGregor, who was sitting ringside, and had a sip of his Forged Irish Stout.

McGregor is one of the biggest names in sport after following a stellar career in the UFC, and the Irishman became a professional boxer in 2017 when he faced Floyd Mayweather in a fight he would go onto lose.

Speaking to Mike Costello on Matchroom Boxing's YouTube channel, Joshua explained why McGregor is someone to take inspiration from.

"Larger than life character," Joshua said about McGregor.

"He’s someone that you can take inspiration from. Remember, we’re only here once and you have to love live life.

"A lot of people are like, each to their own, reserved, quiet and just getting through life. He’s someone that is at the forefront of live and living it to its full capacity in his own right – and I like that about him a lot. I like that about him."
