A former Super Eagles Skipper and coach, Sunday Oliseh on Tuesday showered praises on the senior national team of Nigeria after the country cruised into the last 16 stage win a 100 per cent win record.
Nigeria defeated Uganda 3-1 in their final Group C match in Fes, Morocco to finish with nine points in the preliminary stage with next team, Tunisia on 4 points after three matches.
The Eagles defeated Tanzania 2-1, pip Tunisia 3-2 and also whipped Uganda 3-1 in a match in which coach Eric Chelle ringed changes from the team that played the first two games.
Oliseh, one of the commentators during the match said the team that played Uganda displayed one of the best performances in recent time.
“Nigeria already qualified before the first kick of the ball but I am impressed with the way the players showed discipline, hunger and good composure.
“Chukwueze was absolutely brilliant and Moses Simon gave the fans so much to cheer with his brilliant runs but overall, the dominance was very good from a team already in the last 16 stage. Again, the changes were so much that I suspect almost all the players have tasted action in the competition,” Oliseh said.
The former Juventus player also gave a special mention to match captain, Victor Osimhen, who displayed leader qualities in the encounter against the Cranes of Uganda.
“I am amazed that Osimhen could be this calm as a leader. He has been providing assists and also guiding the players on the pitch. This is really good and I must add that all the new guys gave a good account of themselves,” Oliseh added.
Paul Onuachu scored one goal while Raphel Onyedika recorded a brace for Nigeria in the 3-1 win.
