14th Biennial Police Games: Zone 2 Emerges Champions In Boxing
The Zone 2 has emerged as the winner in the boxing category in the 14th Biennial Police Games tagged 'Oluyole 2024' ongoing in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State.The zone, which comprises of Lagos and Ogun States Police Command, carted home 7 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze to emerged as the winner out of the 11 zones that participated in the boxing category of the games while Zone 17 came second with 6 gold, 2 silver and two bronze.Zone 6 came third with 2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze while Zone 11 was fourth on the medals table with 1 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze and the fifth position goes to Zone 9 with 1 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze.In the male category finals, Popoola Jelili of Zone 2 defeated Ayog Anthony of Zone 6 in the +91kg, while Ayodele Michael of Zone 17 beat Ekundayo Fashanu of Zone 2 to emerged victorious in the 91kg category. In the 86kg, Inyang Arit of Zone 6 defeated Olabisi Foyinsola of Zone 17, Elijah Eniola of Zone 17 defeated Gbenga Bada of Zone 2 in the 81kg and Adeniji Mojeed of Zone 2 defeated Njoku Chika of Zone 9.In the female category finals, Adedun Mariam of Force Hq defeated Ogunsanmi Beulah of Zone 11 in the +81kg, Oriyomi Michael of Zone 2 defeated Imo Cecilia of Zone 9 in the 75kg, Chukwu Juilet of Zone 9 defeated Idowu Olabisi of Zone 11 in the 70kg while Aweda Ibrahim of Zone 2 defeated Oldimeji Ayodele of Zone 11 in the 66 kg.A total of number 21 gold, 21 silver and 15 bronze medals was carted home by winners.
